CAN NIU E-SCOOTERS RUN ON HIGHWAYS?
Of course. Both NQiGT & MQiGT fulfill Hong Kong's vehicle registration requirements that have over 3,000W motor which can run on highways legally.
NIU HAS MANY MODELS IN THE MAINLAND. WHY ARE THERE ONLY 2 MODELS TO BE SOLD IN HONG KONG?
NIU has a broad range of products in the Mainland China, but not all models can meet the homologation requirements for licensing in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Transport Department is very strict with the road compliance requirements for electric vehicles. At present, only NQiGT and MQiGT series can meet all the Hong Kong compliance and licensing requirements. In the future, we will introduce any eligible NIU products to Hong Kong sooner as possible so as to provide more choices to our Hong Kong customers.
THE NQIGT MODEL IS ONLY SOLD AT AROUND 20,000RMB IN THE MAINLAND. WHY IS THE PRICE OF NQIGT IN HONG KONG MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THAT OF THE MAINLAND?
First of all, all of our NIU electric scooters sold in Hong Kong are overseas versions, which are the same as those sold in European countries and the United States. The overseas versions are slightly different from the Mainland versions in terms of materials, batteries, chargers, etc., and the import prices are also different. For example, there is no MQiGT model in the Mainland, where MQiGT is only sold in overseas regions.
In addition, in order to meet the strict requirements of the Hong Kong Transport Department for electric vehicles, we have carried out several laboratory tests in Hong Kong at our own expense without manufacturer’s subsidy. The entire type approval and vehicle verification processes of the Hong Kong Transport Department took us almost a year, resulting an increase in our initial investments.
It is also well known that operating costs in Hong Kong are relatively high. Hong Kong always ranks top in the world regarding the cost of land. The rent, labor and warehousing costs in Hong Kong are much higher than those in the Mainland China, and can be even higher than some cities in Europe and America. Therefore, it may be unfair to us if you directly compare the price of the Mainland versions and think that we are making huge profits. We also take this opportunity to let our customers understand the rationality of our NIU’s prices in Hong Kong.
